I truly believe Canada’s Wonderland has the absolute best setup for fireworks viewing. But the eternal issue with fireworks at the park is egress after, with the massive crowds squeezed through Front Gate and onto what are now city streets. (Of course they used to be country roads, meaning fewer traffic lights, higher speed limits, and thus a quicker drive away from the park.) Many guests refuse to visit on fireworks nights because of the huge crowds and lengthy commute home at the end of a long day.

What I love most about the addition of four bonus fireworks nights is how it should spread out the crowds a bit more. With more opportunities to see the park’s amazing fireworks displays, guests will likely choose just one or two times to see them and not worry about visiting or staying late to see them on those few days. Yes, the crowds on these nights will likely be larger than usual, but I think it’ll be less than a typical fireworks night ensuring a better experience for everyone!

I do have a couple gripes though. The “record number of fireworks nights” needs a bit of an asterisk since the park had fireworks nearly every night of the summer in 2000 (July 2 – September 4) and part of 2001 (August 17 – September 3) as part of The Eruption. That wasn’t strictly a “fireworks show,” but I do think it’s worth clarifying since the park is claiming this year as a record. “More full-scale fireworks displays than ever before,” or “using a record number of fireworks this year” seem like more accurate descriptions in my opinion.

The park also states fire divers are new, but they were used between at least 2015 to 2018. I saw them once, though I was usually more focussed on getting/keeping my seat on fireworks hill.

Having an original soundtrack is awesome, and I believe this means each of the new fireworks nights will be the same show. If so, I’ll probably film them once from my usual spot and then get footage from some other spots around the park in the following weeks.

Other Shows & Events

It might have been nicer to have a truly Canadian company sponsoring Celebration Canada, but hopefully it will be fairly inconspicuous regardless. Every single year, I’ve failed at my mission to see the Smoke Trail Singers full show. Seeing them only listed as performing on July 1 makes me a bit concerned, but I’ll do my best to see them this time.

KidZfest is always a flurry of activity and I’ll try to cover it as best I can considering I don’t have a child of my own. But I’m glad to see so many details about this year’s event being released this early!

I’m eagerly awaiting the debut of Watchtower and The King’s Banquet at the end of next week, both starting on June 27! Retrospect will also start that day.

Memberships

A few days ago season passes became unavailable for purchase. Now the park is introducing “Memberships,” which is essentially a subscription-based admission program. You pay a monthly fee for continuous access to the park on any public operating day, with the ability to cancel any time after your first 12 months of payments.

Personally I’m not a big fan of subscription-based models and I never used the payment plan for my season pass so I’m not very enthused by this new option. Thankfully I have plenty of time to consider my options since my current pass expires December 31 and the park likely won’t open again until early May or possibly the very end of April in 2027. On that note—

If you already have a 2026 season pass,
DO NOT START YOUR MEMBERSHIP YET!

I don’t normally give direct purchasing advice, but there is absolutely no reason to start your Membership until your current pass expires. For gold and prestige pass holders, I would wait until just before your first visit in 2027 to get a Membership. For that reason, the timing of this new introduction is very odd to me.

Having said that, if you don’t currently have an active season pass, feel free to start your Membership at any time. If you have a silver pass, feel free to start your Membership anytime after Labour Day. Just keep in mind the park will be closed for the first few months of 2027 while you continue paying each month.

With 2027 season passes not currently available, I can’t do a proper comparison, but looking at previous years, the price point is slightly higher than a gold pass has been. ($108/year for a Gold Membership, compared to 2026’s initial $99 Gold Pass sale.) With a Membership, you also don’t get “the rest of this year” included. Parking isn’t included with a Gold Membership either. Buying during the “MVP Sale” last year also included access to all Six Flags parks while the Gold Membership only includes the Midwest parks (Canada’s Wonderland, Cedar Point, Darien Lake, and Kings Island).

The park hasn’t stated if or when 2027 season passes may become available, but current gold or prestige pass holders have about 10 months before losing access to the park for even a single day. Assuming you have your pass, make the most of it and be sure to check out the limited-time events, spectacular fireworks displays, and new live entertainment at Canada’s Wonderland this summer!

Canada’s Wonderland had a surprise announcement this morning.
